NOTE THE FOLLOWING TIPS
Every year there are more women who undertake a solo trip, without waiting for anyone’s company and along the way they make new friends and experience new destinations. If you have the desire and have not dared, take note:
MAKE A GOOD PLANNING: Create a route of the places you want to visit and the areas where you will move. That should include where you will be staying, what the landmarks are, what public transportation is like, and what restaurants are available. Consult virtual maps and point out the main places of interest since it is always good to know a little about the place you have chosen.
MAKE A COPY OF YOUR DOCUMENTS: it is especially useful if you lose them or if you are the victim of a robbery. Bring a backup of your passport, identification document and travel insurance. By the way, the latter is valuable if you can do it. If you are insured, you will save yourself a lot of headaches and waste of time.
REMEMBER TO BE PRUDENT: you should not expose yourself to compromising or difficult situations, being able to avoid them. Do not give private information to strangers, such as where you are staying or the places you will be visiting in the next few days. That does not mean walking all the time taking extreme security measures or being paranoid, because you will not enjoy the trip at all.
VERIFY THE PLACE WHERE YOU WILL STAY: before hiring a hotel, it is advisable to visualize the room that they are offering you, check that it is safe and that the door lock works. Check that it has the appropriate amenities so that you do not cancel money and then end up regretting it.
INFORM AN ACQUAINTANCE OF YOUR MOVEMENTS: it is always opportune that a close friend or relative is aware of the place where we are and the movements we make. It is useful for them to know the hotel where we stay or the transport we use, in case something unforeseen arises, they know how to locate you.
KEEP YOUR BELONGINGS WATCHED: always keep an eye on what you carry, both in your backpack and in another bag. It is advisable if you are going to be in the same city for several days not to carry valuables with you all the time. As for money, it is better to carry only what is necessary and have access to ATMs or cards for any purchase. Also, on public transport keep your personal items by your side.
TRAVEL BY DAY: if possible, buy tickets so that you can reach your next destination during the day. This way you have fewer risks and you can locate yourself more easily in the places you go to. During the day it is easy to use public transport. In case of hiring a taxi, take into account that it has a legal record and a good reputation.
WEAR COMFORTABLE CLOTHING: Aside from being more relaxing and flexible, loose-fitting, less conspicuous clothing helps you blend in. Once you have done the research of the place, choose what is the best you can take. On the other hand, it is recommended that you wear a wedding or engagement ring, in many places that instills respect.
KEEP A GOOD ATTITUDE: now that you have decided, the main recommendation is to enjoy the trip, explore the new destination and always maintain a positive mentality. The limits are set by you, so venture to know and take into account the previous measures so that you are safe. Each place is unique, it has its virtues and concerns. But the best thing is to do what you like and the way you want it.
MEET PEOPLE AND MAKE NEW FRIENDS: The best part of traveling is meeting new people. Traveling people are more likely to meet new people. Take advantage of the opportunity because traveling you can always meet people who will accompany you for a section of your trip. Or who knows, they end up making the trip together for months.
